Thanksgiving, Shopping, Anniversary and Christmas lights!!

"Christmas Lights"

Lee put up our Christmas lights today. I know it is not his favorite thing to do, but he seems to like crawling around on the roof. It is a real pain but we always love the way the house looks when we are done. Now we have to get all the other decorations down from the attic, and find a tree. Christmas is approaching way to fast.

Scares me to death.
I have to be out there when he does it, I guess if he falls I can try and catch him.

OK, now this next picture is of the house when it is all done and has gotten dark. We took the pictures and came in and proceeded to clean the camera lens, we thought they were dirty. Then I went out later and took another picture and this is the way it turned out. Looks like snow doesn't it. We finally figured out, after taking several pictures that it is the fog. Strange, but kind of cool.

"39th Wedding Anniversary"
Saturday was our anniversary, yes, 39 years. It just doesn't seem possible, at all. Of course I had to dig out our wedding picture. We were so young, but it didn't seem so at the time. It has been a great 39 years, we have lots to show for our hard work and lots to be thankful for, mostly our family. We didn't do much, next year is the big 40, maybe something exciting then.
Don't we look happy.

I know most of you who read my blog also reads Mindy and Jodi's. But I have to have something to blog about. Jodi and I went to the movies and of course she brought her camera. Mindy was suppose to go but she dogged out on us, something to do with her and Doug going out to the movie and dinner for their anniversary that was today. I sure love these girls.

Black Friday, kind of uneventful, but we got a lot of shopping done.

Thanksgiving dinner. Yes, I burnt the marshmellows on the yams. Got kind of scary for a minute there, Lee to the rescue. I felt bad because the yams are something that Sean contributes and really loves, but we were able to save them.

Doesn't the turkey look good. Well it wasn't my best, pretty dry.

Getting ready for Friday.

Football inside and out.

"HAPPY THANKSGIVING"

We would like to wish all our family and friends a Happy Thanksgiving.

I haven't any pictures to post, maybe after we have dinner tomorrow and when we watch the Seahawks and Cowboys play. We went to school today with Jodi and watched Kaylee, Connor and Cierra get awards for being trustworthy. What an honor, I know it makes us very proud. We are in between sports right now so we have a little break, Basketball next, looking forward to that.

"Black Friday"

My next exciting adventure is "Black Friday." Mindy, Jodi and I have been going shopping on the day after Thanksgiving for many years now. After we eat and clean up we get the paper for the ads and make a game plan. Which stores open first, what we can get where. This has really helped me with the Christmas shopping for the grandkids. I usually get almost all of it done. We have had some scary adventures on that day, but we always have a lot of fun. People can get crazy and we probably fit right in.

Helpful Dad!

If you read our daughters blogs you have read how much they appreciate their Dad. He would do anything for them. Here's an example. Jodi needed a pet door for her cat, her Dad put it in. Well, it broke and needed to be replaced and the new one wasn't the same size so here he is making the hole a little bigger.

The finished product.

But not so fast, she needed help trimming the cats nails. Well that didn't work out, Jodi was afraid to cut them and the cat wasn't cooperating. Some things should just be left to the professionals.

Shaylyn is "6"

Shaylyn turned six on Saturday. She is really growing up. She is so beautiful. When she comes over the first thing she wants to do is play games with Grandpa. We love you Shaylyn and hope you had a really great birthday. We got a few pictures of her soccer game but when we went over to the party we forgot our camera. I know what kind of Bloggers are we, I think it has more to do with age.

Happy Birthday Sweetie!
Treats after the game.

Shaylyn always has a big smile on her face.

Austin is done with soccer and had his team party yesterday. Mindy was sick and Doug had to work so Grandpa took Austin, Chance and Shaylyn to the party. Lee really is the best Grandpa I know.

Austin getting his award!

Thanks

When Mindy and Jodi wished me happy 60th birthday on their blogs and said the things they said about me, well lets just say a few tears fell. I know they know that I love them but I'm not sure they really know how much. So I would like to tell them and anyone else who reads our blog. These two are amazing young women. I'm so proud of them. The lives they have chosen to lead, the two men they married (which are like sons to me). The way they are raising their children. I just couldn't be more happier with them. Time passes so fast I wish I could go back to when you were just my little girls and keep you with me for always. I know that you will be with me forever and we will all be together forever. From the first time I met Doug and Sean I knew it was just a matter of time and you would be married and moving on. And now I'm so glad you did because I have 7 of THE most wonderful grandkids in the world. So with these few words coming from my heart I hope that you know in your heart what you mean to me. Love, Dad.

Still celebrating, Soccer and Update on our tree!

Things have been busy since we got back from our hunting trip, after being gone for eleven days we had lots to do.

Last night we were able to celebrate Lee's 6oth birthday with the kids and grandkids. First we went to dinner, just the grownups, it's nice that the grandkids are getting old enough to stay by themselves for a short time. They were all over to the Gailey's. We went to the Black Angus for dinner and after a few mistakes and a way to small table we were able to sit and have dinner. I had put my name in, party of six, they called Ray party of six and they got our table, they then shoved us in a to small booth , we had to ask for a different table and finally were able to get one. The waiter was nice, but kept hitting on Jodi or was it Sean, we weren't really sure. Thanks for dinner kids. It was a nice dinner and then we went to the Gailey's for cake and ice cream and presents with the Grandkids. Of course the grandkids really get into birthdays, especially for their Grandpa. Grandpa got many nice home made cards and some special gifts. The girls always try and do a T-shirt with pictures of the grandkids, this one was especially nice, it was a collage of a bunch of different pictures of Grandpa with each of the grandkids, very special. The pictures at the restaurant didn't turn but here are some of the party.

Always have to take one of Brooke.

Don't Shaylyn and Cierra look sweet, they have their moments.

Just getting started with all the cards. The dogs wanted to join in, they got bored with it fast when they realized there wasn't anything for them.

I think they all wanted to help. It is hard to get them all in one picture.

Grandpa really loves these kids (so do I).

Jodi and her Dad.

Mindy and her Dad. Of course he really loves these two girls too.

Well, we had to get one of us together, he loves me too, and I love him with all my heart.

Now for soccer! Four games today (Saturday). We made to all of them. Austin's was first and it was raining and the field was a mess. I stayed in the car, but Lee braved the weather, the kids seemed to be having fun, the field was wet and they were practically swimming when they would fall. Sorry no pictures of that one.

Cierra after her game, the best part, treats.

Connor taking a "knee" when one of the boys got hurt (nothing serious).

Shaylyn really keeps her eye on the ball, except when she is looking for her family in the bleachers.

Our tree, if you remember in a previous post we planted a tree we got from Sean and Jodi. It seems to be doing ok, but is not real firm in the ground. It is a big tree with very little roots, Lee felt it needed some help to stay up, especially if the wind starts blowing.

You can't tell, but it is poring down rain, he got soaked.

He did a great job and hopefully it will still survive.

Finished product and I didn't get wet at all.

Hunting, Camping and Lee's 60th Birthday!!

We went Elk hunting, I should say Lee went hunting, I just went along for the camping. We met up with my sister Teri and her husband Bill. Their son Jason and son-in-law Mike were also there. The weather was great for camping, not so great for hunting. The guys walked many miles, saw lots of signs of animals (you know, poop and stuff) and of course they saw a few they couldn't shoot. My sister and I had lots of time to visit, in between feeding these hungry guys. We played a lot of cards, having a tournament playing Skip-Bo, my first time playing this game, need I say who won. It was a great time and even though they didn't get any Elk, it was still a good time. Lee had his 60th birthday while we were gone, I know hard to believe he is 60, we tried to make it a special day for him. Teri made beef stroganoff, his favorite and I baked a cake. We will be getting together with the kids and grandkids this weekend to celebrate some more.

This is some of the scenery, beautiful. They were actually walking around up in those mountains and trees.

Lee and Bill cleaning mushrooms they found in the woods. Don't worry Bill knows all about picking mushrooms.
Our camp! My sister Teri and the guys by the campfire.

This is the tent that Jason and Mike slept in, yes they had a fire in a big enclosed barrel in it to keep them warm.

Lee concentrating on cleaning the mushrooms, I know he would have rather been cleaning an Elk.

This is on our way home, the beautiful trees changing colors.

There was a little snow at White Pass ski resort, not enough for skiing yet though.
